The blue hedgehog who runs faster than the speed of sound, after absorbing the energy of the seven Chaos Emeralds, becomes a golden mirror. SEGA and MEDICOM TOY have teamed up to release the BE@RBRICK SUPER SONIC CHROME Ver., in a two-size set of 100% and 400%, transforming one of the most iconic powered-up forms from the Sonic games into a handheld metallic collectible.
In the series lore, “Super Sonic” is the ultimate form Sonic achieves by transforming through the positive energy of the seven Chaos Emeralds—the blue hedgehog’s fur turns gold, his eyes become ruby red, and he radiates a brilliant glow. The BE@RBRICK version does not recreate the red eyes or upright spikes, but instead chooses a purer form of translation: full chrome plating. Every surface of the bear is covered in a mirror-grade metallic coating, replacing Sonic’s original blue body with a reflective surface that constantly shifts with ambient light. In a display case, it is not “showing color” but “moving light.”
In terms of dimensions, the 400% version stands approximately 28 cm tall, while the 100% version is about 7 cm. It is priced at ￥25,080 (tax included), with release scheduled for October 2026. As for availability, this set is exclusive to SEGA Stores, sold only at SEGA STORE TOKYO and SEGA STORE OSAKA, and not through online sales or other retailers. The SEGA Store Tokyo is located in Shibuya PARCO, while the Osaka store will open on October 2 on the sixth floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO—this chrome Super Sonic is set to be part of the Osaka store’s opening lineup.
When a character whose sole label is “speed” is made into an object whose sole characteristic is “reflection,” it is actually answering an interesting question: if Super Sonic were truly so fast that even light cannot catch up, what would he look like when standing still?
