Dian’s “ANGEL UNHAPPY” Releases Max Fan Hand-Painted One-off Sofubi

Dian’s original character “ANGEL UNHAPPY” has received a new One-off sofubi edition. This piece features hand-painting by toy artist Max Fan, using red and purple as a base and incorporating blue, green, yellow, and other colours to create an iridescent metallic effect. SOMSOC officially lists it as the “ANGEL UNHAPPY ソフビ by Max Fan One-off Edition” and includes it among the related works for Dian’s Tokyo solo exhibition “Den! Den! Den! PETSHOP ~Curious Beast Shop~.”

Compared to the standard version, the biggest difference of this piece is its One-off nature. The official specifications explicitly mark it as a “One-off Edition” and confirm that the hand-painting was completed by Max Fan. The piece is made of sofubi, features articulated joints, and comes with a detachable long sword.

In terms of dimensions, the figure stands 155 mm tall. With the sword, the dimensions are W85 × D100 × H155 mm; without the sword, they are W85 × D55 × H155 mm. Therefore, this piece is not approximately 20 cm tall, but approximately 15.5 cm tall.

“ANGEL UNHAPPY” itself is an original character created by Dian. SOMSOC’s introduction to related works states that this angel possesses an infinitely regenerating body and pierces its own heart with the “Angel’s Sword” to distribute its body to creatures waiting in the darkness for a form; this setting also forms an important background for the character’s works.

This Max Fan hand-painted One-off Edition is being sold via lottery through the official SOMSOC GALLERY channel. The official announcement states that the lottery period is from September 19, 2026, 12:00 to September 30, 2026, 23:59 (Japan time); the official product page currently lists the price at ￥36,300 (tax included).

The work is currently presented alongside Dian’s solo exhibition “Den! Den! Den! PETSHOP ~Curious Beast Shop~.” The exhibition is held from September 5 to September 27, 2026, at SOMSOC GALLERY in Harajuku, Tokyo, organised by SOMSOC GALLERY.
