Surprise! Martian Toys has revealed their new Ukiuk vinyl, a fun collaboration between Red Mutuca collective artists Gorgocho (Charles Rodriguez) and QUICCS. A stylized wolf/husky character, Gorgocho’s Ukiuk (inuit for winter) builds on the TEQ63 by combining a brand-new wolf/dog head sculpt with the torso from QUICCS’ figure. The new figure will debut at Toy Con UK (4.7 – 4.8) in a Martian Toys Exclusive Dark edition (150 pieces). The general release Light edition will be available from Martian Toys and select retailers starting on Friday April 13th at 7 AM PDT.
This hybrid approach works really nicely here and offers a more organic riff on the standard platform concept—allowing Gorgocho to use the TEQ63 as a flexible starting point for his own creation. For the toy nerds out there, Ukiuk doesn’t appear to use the alternate individual arms that are part of the TEq63 figures.
