My XFUNSer: Custom Maple X’s in Taiwan (May 2006)

As part of XFUNS Magazine’s  upcoming 16-day XFUNS Gala to be held in May 2006 in Taiwan, 65 artists around the world have been asked to customize…  an XFUNSer as part of the My XFUNSer design exhibition. What’s an XFUNSer?  A block of  maple wood shaped like an ‘X’ with eight holes — for legs, arms, shoes, etc.  The concept is a little unusual, but the results so far have been pretty darn cool.  Here are the XFUNSer pieces from designers around the globe including  Tweeqim (miQ willmOtt and Thuy3), Jim Koch, Nathan Spoor , and Attaboy.  I’m really enjoying the transformation of the simple block of wood into new toy forms — Tweeqim’s wood blocks (awesome painting Thuy!) and Jim Koch’s scary two-headed clown marionette.  Thanks to Xenia and XFUNS for providing these great pics.
