Moscow-based Vladue is nearing the finish line on his first-ever art toy. The Catdue resin art toy features a hip urban cat complete with mustache and small horn. From the clothes to the shoes to the attitude, Catdue is drawn from the streets and certainly not one to back down from his ‘due’, as evidenced by the defiant slogan in the color mockup. Digitally sculpted, Catdue features clean, rounded lines, with an animated, cartoon vibe. The printed piece came out well and keeps Vlaude on pace for a planned drop in a month or so. Keep an eye out.

I really love the website, IG page and the blog aspects of Vinyl Pulse. In this Catdue blurb you’ve mentioned that this is the artist first art toy. I was curious about how does one get their first art toy made (without making an art toy themselves)? From my research ( Limited) it seems that many designers have their toys manufactured by companies who are interested in producing large quantities. These cost are hard for up-and-coming artist to afford not to mention some companies not willing to work with unknown/emerging artist without pay first. In this situation are designers submitting work to Vinyl Pulse and Vinyl Pulse becomes the mediator/financial backer with said companies? Or is this a kick-starter situation?
