Dolcori Forest, a newly opened theme park on Jeju Island, is located in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo City. It strings together natural landscapes, cat characters and outdoor recreation into a combined complex, with its name taken from the stone cat spirits of Jeju legend.
The showstopper is the giant work “Tangerine Cat” created specifically for the park by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman (creator of Rubber Duck): a plump cat 16 meters long and 7 meters tall, its tail like a peeled orange rind, playfully merging Jeju’s famed citrus with cats. The indoor exhibition area uses five original cat characters to weave together light-and-shadow experiences, stamp missions and exploration activities, and also features a special exhibition by Danish artist Davis Campbell, where visitors can try their hand at creating works in a workshop. Outdoors, miniature versions of world architecture, outdoor art and garden paths sit side by side.
The dining spaces are equally thoughtful: the bakery’s exterior incorporates cat tail and cat back silhouettes, while the all-day brunch café “Cafe 1878” carefully selects local Jeju ingredients. Before leaving, you can also pick up exclusive cat merchandise at the Gift Shop.
