Rolex has released a brand-new collection without any warning — the Perpetual Padellone. It takes a dress-watch positioning, with a classic full-calendar dial layout, a “face moon phase,” and annual calendar functionality. The prototype is the vintage Ref. 8171 from the 1950s; the 2026 new model carries forward the essence of the historical piece, fine-tuning the case diameter to 39mm to better suit today’s wearing habits and aesthetics.
The debut lineup has three pieces, with cases in 18K Everose gold or 950 platinum. Everose gold pairs with a rich white dial, platinum with ice blue. On the double bezel, the upper half is polished while the lower half is densely fluted; the dial body has a grained texture and follows the classic full-calendar arrangement: day and month windows sit at 12 o’clock, the enamel moon phase disc at 6 o’clock, and the date runs around the outer edge of the dial, read by a blue crescent hand. Four buttons on the case side require a dedicated tool to press and adjust the day, date, month and moon phase — an adjustment method directly inherited from the prototype Ref. 8171, preserving the operating logic of the vintage watch.
The face moon phase is the new model’s most striking detail. Look closely and both the “full moon” and “new moon” on the moon phase disc are made of meteorite material, engraved with slightly playful facial patterns. Turn it over, and through the exhibition caseback the brand-new calibre 7190 is revealed for the first time, featuring Rolex’s patented Haplos annual calendar system, which instantly synchronizes the day, date and month jumps, automatically recognizing long and short months except February — in theory requiring manual adjustment only once a year, in February.
For pairing, the 18K Everose gold versions come with a Settimo bracelet or a matte brown alligator leather strap, while the 950 platinum version is fitted with a matte black alligator leather strap.
