French Artist Stéphane Bucco aka Sockho strives to bring exciting visual design to everyday products. His String Republic brand is infusing the classic espadrille shoe (rubber sole + soft upper) with cutting edge designs from 12 diverse internationally recognized artists including fellow frenchmen Koa and Skwak. While visually striking products are always welcome, production methods matter — the material, the location of production and the tradition behind an item. String Republic is supporting french industry by using one of four remaining factories in France to produce these espadrilles.
