Fujio Museum in Kawasaki, Medicom Toy is once again releasing two classic commemorative products: the VCD Doraemon with Ears (Doraemon Birth Chapter) and the UDF Doraemon with Ears (Doraemon Birth Chapter).
“Doraemon with Ears” captures the character’s most original form—the yellow body and round ears as they were when he rolled off the factory line on September 3, 2112. It was only after his ears were bitten off by a robotic mouse and he mistakenly drank a tear-inducing potion, causing his yellow coating to peel away, that he became the blue figure everyone knows today. This commemorative release preserves that classic “pre-colour-change” look.
Both limited-edition items feature an electroplated gold finish, echoing the museum’s 15th anniversary golden jubilee theme. The VCD (Vinyl Collectible Dolls) version stands approximately 180 mm tall, designed for large-scale soft vinyl display; the UDF (Ultra Detail Figure) version stands approximately 65 mm tall, intended for delicate small-scale desk display. Prototype production for both was handled by PERFECT-STUDIO.
These two products were originally released in 2016 as limited-edition 5th-anniversary items for the museum and have been out of stock for a long time since.
